New York City, 2018.The night seems to be like any other when Kiara finishes her shift as a nurse at a hospital near Central Park, but the arrival of Stella, an old, injured woman, holds her back.The young woman immediately feels connected to her. Soon after, she learns that this lady is a well-known art collector. During her stay in the hospital, Stella reveals to Kiara secrets of her interesting and glamorous life. She tells her about her origins in Slovenia, her arrival in New York, and how she has built her empire.Kiara also discovers that, despite her fortune, Stella hides a great sadness caused by the death of her son and the disappearance of her daughter.After several failed attempts to find her, Stella decides to send Kiara to Europe, to her hometown, where her daughter was born at the end of World War II.Kiara is not entirely satisfied with her profession or sure of her relationship with Albert, an ambitious obstetrician.
