Jack loved life with his best friend Meg, until the day came when she was no longer there, but with the arrival of energetic young Nell, Jack finds he has a new purpose. Bursting with happiness and the joy of youth, Nell finds each day is the start of a fresh adventure. Jack, feeling responsible for teaching the young pup all about beach life, finds himself wondering "what would Meg do?"

With so much to learn, Nell is confused when she encounters Sophie the seal, who has got herself into a scary predicament. Exhausted, Sophie is much in need of help to rid her of a plastic ring which is stuck around her neck.
