Two Friends, Morten Strøknes and the artist Hugo Aasjord, obsessed with capturing a Greenland shark, decide to spend a year of their lives doing so. Their equipment leaves a lot to be desired: a tiny rubber boat, fishing rods and the rotting flesh of a Scottish cow as bait. While they wait for the shark to emerge from the depths of the ocean, Strøknes meditates about the stunning beauty of the Lofoten archipelago and about the ocean as a whole: from the poetry and the mythology, to the history, the science and the ecology.
