A collection of 75 official records, covering the period 1957-89. The documents - those issued by party, government, or KGB bodies, as well as those received by these bodies - reflect Soviet policy and politics in the field of Jewish emigration. The records show, inter alia, that one of the goals of the Soviet propaganda campaign in this period was to counteract worldwide accusations of antisemitism in the USSR. Some documents attest to the fact that the anti-Zionist campaign launched in the USSR in the late 1960s acquired antisemitic overtones in the 1970s, and many of the emigrants were motivated by a fear of growing antisemitism.
