Juan Belmonte, named after a famous bullfighter, is a former South American Marxist guerrilla who now works as a bouncer at a seedy Hamburg strip joint. One day he is approached by an old man in a wheelchair who makes him an offer he cannot refuse. During World War II, he is told, two German police officers stole precious medieval coins from the German treasury and hid them somewhere in Chile.
